Here is a small display of my peotic prowess.
Let me know what you think.
My Poetry
The Queen©
I am the queen sitting on her throne
With a watchful eye on my subjects below.
I am the queen who stands alone.
My life open for the world to know
I am the queen with outstretched hands
Offering the comfort of my embrace.
I am the queen who understands
The need for you to leave this place.
This was just a teaser--more to come :)
This next poem is actually a piece I wrote for performance.
(A warning: It's kind of long)
Stella Advises MANkind©
Well, hello my dears,
Stella's here to give you some information.
That should come as no surprise.
It seems to me that you could clearly see
If you would only open up your eyes.
See the light, I won't fuss or fight,
You just use your imagination.
I may not be one of those skinny little pixies
That have been ever so popular here.
Hey, I'm no go-go girl, but I'll still rock your world,
If you only care to dare.
And if you do, here's a hint or two
On some things that you really shouldn't do.
By now, you should know the nature of my advice.
But just in case you're slow,
Just for you I'll be blunt.
You see, I was on the hunt for the "Quintessential Man",
And it seemed as if he couldn't be found.
But then, a revelation came to me and turned my thinking all around
I realized that the man I was looking for
Simply wasn't looking for me.
Can you imagine why?
This brings me back to what I first promised you
When I walked through that door.
I'm here to dispel all those misconceptions
That many of you had before.
Because us full-figured women have gotten a bad shake.
You've got somethings against us, and that's your mistake.
Don't let an extra curve here or there throw you off track.
Don't be concerned by the extra luggage that some of us carry in the back.
You're being stupid. You're missing out. You've got it all wrong.
Here, let me tell you about a thing or two.
I am not lazy! That is not the case.
I do not spend all day stuffing my face.
My clothes are not dirty, my house is also clean.
You can throw out all those stereotypes.
You know what I mean?
I'm just like any other woman, with a little bit more,
But you'll never know what I have in store
Unless you take the time.
So, celebrate the woman in me,
Celebrate all this woman can be.
I am voluptuous, vivacious, buxom and bold.
I will shock, thrill you, amaze and mystify you.
I can hold you, caress you, and touch the very soul of you.
But you have to give me the chance.
Take advantage of all that I can supply.
There is definitely more here than meets the eye.
There is no need for you or I to be alone
When together the two of us could make such a happy home.
My love is so tender and so sweet,
It will make you shiver.
This here is one woman who is ready, willing and able to deliver.
And there are so many other women out there just like me.
So, the next time you happen to see a woman of girth in all her glory,
Do not rush to put a conclusion on her story.
Open the book. Read its lines. Get to know her character.
I am sure that you will find
That she was worth the time it took.
And you will come to cherish that book.
For it is the inner quality of the text that shines through,
And not the packaging that touches you.
I will leave you now, for I believe that I have made my point clear.
Think about it, will you my dear?

Chickens Can't Fly
Don't spend major time with minor people.
If there are people in your life that continually disappoint you,
Break promises, stomp on your dreams, too judgemental,
Have different values and don't have your back during difficult times....
That is not a friend.
To have a friend, be a friend
Sometimes in life as you grow, your friends will either grow or go.
Surround yourself with people who reflect your values,
Goals, interests, and lifestyle.
When I think of any of my successes,
I am thankful to God from whom all blessings flow,
And to my family and friends that enrich my life.
Over the years my phone book has changed because I changed for the better.
At first you think you're going to be alone,
But after a while new people show up in your life that make your life
So much sweeter and easier to endure.
Remember what your elders used to say,
"Birds of a feather flock together"
If you're an eagle, don't hang around chickens:
Chickens Can't Fly!
A Poem Worthy Of You
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea
But all these things I'm finding
Are impossible for me
I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best
A friend that's always there
Why God Made Friends
God made friends with a heartful of love,
Then He looked down from Heaven above,
And saw that we all need a helping hand,
Someone to share with, who'll understand.
He made special people to see us through
The glad times and the sad times, too;
A person on whom we can always depend,
Someone we can call a friend.
God made friends so we'll carry a part
Of his perfect love in all our hearts.
Another Friendly Poem
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
and share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue.
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own;
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone.
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding
are impossible for me.
I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best,
A friend who's always there.

A Friend
by Daryl Washington ©
It's hard to say good-bye to what you have today
It's even harder to say goodbye to yesterday
I look past the hands of time
To remember the things that were once mine
I look at the times I cried and laughed
I look at the times that I was happy or sad
I look at the times I had nothing at all
And remembered the times when I fell
You were there to make my days better
Either talking, smiling, or just your laughter
You laughed at my corny jokes and made me feel wanted
You made me feel fresh when others made me disgusted
If I don't ever see you again
You will always be
A Friend
